Spread across 37 sq km, Sivaram Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1987, is located in
Adilabad and
Karimnagar districts of
Andhra Pradesh. It is 50 km from Mancherial. This sanctuary was originally established to provide inviolate refuge for crocodiles with a view to minimize their depredation.
Sivaram Wildlife Sanctuary is covered by dense forest with varied fauna and flora. The flora includes teak, terminalias, tirman, kodsha, gumpena, abnus and thorny scrub.
Apart from crocodiles, panther, sloth bear, nilgai, cheetah, blackbuck, chousingha, languor, rhesus monkey, wild boar, sambar and python are spotted in the sanctuary.
The best time to visit this sanctuary is from December to April. Accommodations are available at the forest rest houses in Mancherial.
Sivaram Wildlife Sanctuary is 240 km north of Hyderabad. Hyderabad Airport, Adilabad Bus Station and Adilabad Railway Station are the access points.
