Korivi is a small village situated at a distance of about 60 km from
Warangal, in
Warangal District of
Andhra Pradesh. The village is well-known by a famous temple there. The temple is located in the middle of the village, surrounded by a number of neem and pipal trees. The village has significance even from the period of
Chalukya Dynasty. Korivi was the capital of
Kakatiyas till the early 11th century AD, when the capital was shifted to Warangal. Some inscriptions found in the place reveal that the idol of the deity Veeranna or
Veerabhadra might have been installed in AD 800 by the Chalukyan kings.
Korivi Festival, a major fair of the place attracts a large number of devotees to Korivi during the Mahashivaratri.
