Kalapam is a folk art of
Andhra Pradesh. Kalapam has a main actor and a second actor, who serves both as the Sutradhar (storyteller) and the Vidushaka (the clown). The main actor adopts the acting part and the descriptive-narrative parts are taken over by the second actor. The characters enter the stage with self-introduction.
Kalapam is a short play, which gives prominence to facial expressions. As the main character describes his or her experiences, the other one intervenes by questioning or making comments. Bhamakalapam and
Gollkalapam are two famous kalapams.
