Abids is a busy shopping thoroughfare located on the Narayanguda Road in the historic pearl city of
Hyderabad. It has some of the biggest Jewelry shops in the twin cities. It is also famous for clothes shops which cater for the needs of people from all walks of life. Abids also has a line of shoe shops.
The place was named after Abid, an enterprising person of Jewish origin, who was once valet to the sixth Nizam. He made much money working for that generous man and started a business of his own. The place soon became a meeting place for the rich and the fashionable.
