Penukonda




Penukonda, means a big hill, is about 70 km from Anantapur on the Kurnool-Bangalore road. It is situated at the foot a hill and is renowned for the Penukonda fort and Parshvanatha Temple. Penukonda was the summer capital of King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar dynasty.

Penukonda is 27 km southeast of Puttaparthi and 140 km north of Bangalore.
