Tuila is a stringed instrument native to
Orissa. It is just a bamboo stick with a stretched gut at one end and a small half cut bottle gourd below the other end. The player holds the instrument in a diagonal manner with the dried fruit shell against his chest. One hand plucks the gut at the lower end and other hand stops it at the other end. A peculiarity of Tuila is that it is played with three fingers where seven notes are produced. The Tuila is not much in use at present.
