Tlamen is a large sized basket belonging to the Lushai tribe of
Mizoram. It is used by the male members of the farming community to carry the farm products.
Tlamen is characterized by its square base and circular rim. The base measures diagonally 210 mm, while the rim has a diameter of 520 mm. The basket is woven from split bamboo. The rim and the edges of the base are strengthened with split cane. The cane is smoked to give it a dark red-brown coloration before it is used for weaving.
