Pfutsero, the highest town in
Nagaland, is located in
Phek District at an elevation of 2,133 m above the sea level. The predominant inhabitants are
Chakhesang Tribes. The languages spoken are Khezha and Chokri. Agriculture is the main occupation and
rice is the crop cultivated. Climatic is cold through most part of the year. This help in growing vegetables and fruits, especially apples, in abundance.
Glory Peak, which offers the majestic views of
Saramati and the towns of Zunheboto and
Tuensang, is one of the major attraction. Leshemi boasting an ancient temple and Chobama with
Miracle Cave are among the prominent villages nearby. Zanibu Lake and Japanese Cave (3 km away) are worth visiting. Sukrunya and Tsukhenyie that fall on the months of January and May are the prime festivals.
A 70 km border road connects Pfutsero to
Kohima (145 km.) The nearest
airport and
railhead are in
Dimapur.
