This 250 km-long stretch starts off from NH 17 at Kozhikode and traverses a distance of 90 km through Kerala before entering Karnataka near Muthanga. Vythiri, Kalpetta and Sultan Bathery are some major towns that lie along the road. In Karnataka, it travels 160 km north-east before bumping in to NH 209 at Kollegal.
