Myntdu River

Myntdu River is one of the major water bodies in the Jaintia hill District of Meghalaya. It originates near Jowai, and encircles this town from all three directions leaving open the north. It further flows towards Bangladesh where it is known by the name ‘Hari’.

The river, with its origin at 1420 meter above sea level, has sufficient drop in its course and is therefore considered excellent for hydro-power development.
