Kiphire is a small town, perched at an altitude of 896 m above sea level and is the headquarters of the newly found
Kiphire District in
Nagaland. Kiphire is about 254 km north-east of
Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.
It is the native place for the Sangtam, Yimchunger and Sema tribes. The town holds the distinction of being home to the highest peak in Nagaland, Saramati at 3841 m.
Kisatong village of the Sangtam tribe, situated on a very high hilltop, is a spot worth a visit. It is a habitat for large number of migratory birds during seasons.
Dimapur Airport is the nearest airport. The convenient railway stations are Mariani Railway Station and Furkating Railway Station in Assam.
