Indian Nightjar (Caprimulgus asiaticus) is a medium sized bird with soft-plumage and grey or brown buff and fulvous. The white patches on its wings are clearly visible in flight. The bird’s flight is peculiarly silent. Its voice is hard, sharp rapidly repeated chuck at a steady rate of about six per second, and then ending with a chrrrr. The bird prefers rather open mountain forest and scrub. Usually two eggs are laid on the bare soil in thin bush jungle. Nightjar feeds on insects, beetles and moths.
Indian Nightjar can be seen in the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Rajasthan.
