Gangabal Lake
The Gangabal Lake, also known by the name Harmukh Ganga, is an alpine lake situated at a height of 3570 m on the peak of Harmukh mountain ranges. The lake is one of the sources of the Jhelam river and an annual fair is held here during the third week of August. It is regarded as a sacred place by Kashmiri Hindus. Gangabal lake is a favourite spot for rainbow trout fishing. The lake can be reached from Sonamarg via Krishnasar and Vishansar, after an enjoyable trek through beautiful backdrops. The trekking season is from July to October while the fishing season extends from March to October.
