Dawki Bridge




Dawki Bridge is located on the river Dawki near Dawki customs check post. This motorable suspension bridge complete the missing link of National Highway 40, Guwahati-Shillong-Dawki Road. Jaintia Hills District is on one side of the river and East Khasi Hills District is on the other side. Dawki Bridge, an engineering feat, was constructed in 1932 by the British as the overland life-line between the provinces of East Bengal and Assam. Dawki is a town in India-Bangladesh Frontier.
