Bhagwanpura, also spelt Bhagpura, is a site of archaeological interest in
Kurukshetra District of
Haryana. It lies on the right bank of the
Saraswati River, about 3 km from
Kurukshetra on Jhansa road.
Excavations at Bhagwanpura are an evidence of a pre-Harappan and Harappan culture. The place has yielded various objects of antiquarian interest and a distinctive class of pottery known as the Painted Grey Ware. Some oval-shaped structures meant for religious functions were discovered during the recent excavations.
Kurukshetra is around160 km north of New Delhi. To reach Bhagwanpura, one can opt for either Kurukshetra Junction Railway Station or Kurukshetra Bus Station.
