A center for Indological studies, Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute was established by Shri Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji, under the Kashi Math Samsthan, in
Kochi,
Ernakulam District. It conducts foundation and advanced courses in Vastuvidya, Sanskrit and Jyotisha.
Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute has a book library carrying around 8,000 books on Indological and oriental subjects such as vedas, puranas, upanishads, vedanta and mathematics and a manuscript library with over 1,500 palm leaf scripts in Sanskrit. The book library also houses books on Jainism and Buddhism. The institute intends to build a museum also.
The institute also aims to publish rare manuscripts in tantra and mantra. Collection and recording of the pravachans (prophecies) made by dharmagurus from various parts of India is another objective.
Cochin International Airport and Ernakulam Junction Railway Station serve the area.
