Kutlehar Forts




Kutlehar Forts are located in Una District, Himachal Pradesh. They are also known as Forts of Solasingi. These forts are situated an altitude of 4,500 m above sea level on the Solasingi Dhar Range. The forts offer panoramic views of the overlooking Gobind Sagar Lake and Pong Dam. They are said to have been built by the ruler of Kangra, Sansar Chandra. Maharaja Ranjit Singh gave the forts a facelift in 1809. Huge hewn stone slabs have been used in the construction of the ceiling of the forts. Only six forts out of the 16 stood the ravages of time. Ruins of the other 10 forts are seen around. Raipur Palace and Kutlehar Forests are the main attractions nearby. Bilaspur, Piplu, Una and Bangana are nearby tourist detinations. Kutlehar Forts are approachable from Bangana and Piplu, up to Jarola, by bus. From Jarola, one has to trek to Solasingi Dhar Range to reach here. Nearest international airport is at Amritsar. Nearest railway station is at Hoshiarpur in Punjab.
