Gopnath




Gopnath, a small sleepy hamlet blessed with beaches and extensive green foliages, is located on the Gulf of Khambhat at Bhavnagar District in Gujarat. The place is located 10 km south of Talaja.

Gopnath was once the summer home of Maharaja Krishna Kumar Singhji of Bhavnagar. It is an enduring destination because of its breathtaking seacoast adorned with spectacular limestone cliffs. It also provides an excellent view of colorful bird life. It has lovely, firm sand for walking and shallow shore water for wading. This village attracts marine life enthusiasts, from around the globe, for the variety of marine life found in the rocky shoals on the coast.

Talja, a Jain temple spiraling on a 350-foot high volcanic hill, Alang, the world's largest ship breaking zone and Gopnath Mahadev Temple are worth visiting. Rajpara village in the vicinity has a beautiful white sanded beach. Furniture, food stuffs, crockery, utensils, textiles, home appliances salvaged from the demolished ships can be purchased from here.

Bhavnagar is around 75 km away.
