Mrigasira festival, also known as Mrugam, is held in the month of June or July at
Hyderabad. It is celebrated with a feast of local fish and is famous for its unique way of treating asthma. This treatment has a tradition of more than 150 years, and deals with the swallowing of live fish, which is believed to have herbal properties. The remedy was revealed by a great sage to the ancestors of the physicians who carry out the treatment today.
